Today I watched a BBC Documentary about a boy whose penis got burnt in an accident when he was a little baby. Then he was castrated and was brought up like a girl on the advice of a psychologist Dr. John Money who had a so called theory of “Nurture verse Nature”.  According to him a boy could become a girl if brought up like one and vice-versa.  To prove his theory he found a perfect subject in this poor child. But he failed despite his best efforts and ultimately the ‘girl’ had to be brought up like a boy. (But this real life story took a very tragic turn later on which claimed two lives).

Baba Ramdev : A modern day quack (at least for gays!)

This Documentary was about the time of 1960s when plastic surgery was not as advanced. But we too have a modern day Dr. Money in India! Yes you got me right. BABA RAMDEV! He too thinks that your sexual preferences can be altered through a “proper treatment”! Nature is secondary according to this quack. I just wish that no parent in India is forced by circumstances to take his help. I wish if each parent could watch this Documentary, where it comes out clearly that the sexual preference with which you are born cannot be altered. I wish if there were a law in this country where such quacks can be prosecuted even for making such absurd claims! I wish many other things… But …!!! 

P.S.

At least Dr. Money had some recognised degree and was working on a subject which was not completely known at that time. But this Baba has no such qualification per se and has himself put a cap on his knowledge by being a fundamentalist (I would not say a Hindu fundamentalist because his opinion on this subject is more similar to the Christian and Islamic teachings).
