Fashionable To Like Gays?

These days I am experiencing a sharp decline in the number of Gay-Haters among educated people of age group 25-35. One would consider it as a sign of change in mindset of society in general. But I would rather say make no mistake. Considerable number of people around us believe in taking convenient stand on different matters. The surge of media reports about Gay Rights in past 4-6 yrs coupled with the inclination of young people towards western ‘fashion’ is forcing them to desist from hating gays in public. Because if they don’t do so they are afraid of being tagged ‘regressive’, ‘feudal’ and perhaps ‘uneducated’. So just to keep in pace with modern trend they pretend that they don’t have any problem with Gays. But the fact remains that deep inside their hearts they still laugh at the serious depiction of gays in Hollywood movies ( such depiction is rare in Bollywood ); they still stare at Gay Couples in public as if they are 8th wonder of the world; they still don’t want Gays be allowed the equal rights They are just OK with gays as long as they keep themselves confined to secret sex and don’t ask for any equal rights in the society.

I am more encouraged by the younger lot of people of age group 16-24 yrs. These people seem to genuinely believe in equality irrespective of a person’s sexuality. Since they are the trend setters in terms of modernity, they need not pretend that they like Gays just for sake of showing their advanced-ness. And more importantly, they are more likely to get a closer experience of any close friend being Gay and therefore the natural understanding for such people. All my hopes are on these people.
