Year 2013 is over.
While departing it presented havoc to the gay community in the form of Supreme
Court’s judgment. Year 2014 shall be a year of fight in slow motion given the
judiciary’s working style and importance given to the ‘gay issues’.
One more grudge,
which this year has left behind, is the loneliness of many deserving friends
and of many other deserving gays whom I do not know per se. It is easy to preach
them that it shall pass away, but it is almost impossible to console them. Each
day of loneliness is like torrential rain where you are standing in a meadow without
any shed over your head. All I can say to these gays is – I too have gone
through this phase of life where you feel totally hapless when you see a
beautiful couple moving around holding hands. At such times, it really becomes
hard to keep your tears within the confines of your eyes. They just roll down
your cheeks.
And you begin to
think – “Will I be like this for the rest of my life?” This brings a shiver
down your spine. You have not planned for this perpetual loneliness nor you
ever can! I believe this very fear is the most important thing. It becomes your
motivation, your courage, your power. Even if you feel tired of searching
anyone anymore, you just cannot stop because of this fear. It is like a tiger
chasing you, no matter how much tired or breathless you are, you just cannot
stop, despite of the many obstacles in your path.
In each of the
cases, we must keep going. Seeking divine intervention is always an added
advantage which is always open to each one of us. As Lord Himself said in
Bhagwad-Gita – मामनुस्मर युध्य च (Remember me and do keep fighting).
Make this a motto of your life starting now. Best wishes for all for New Year
2014.
