The Ladoos & The Anger

This evening I returned from office feeling a little hungry.  After relaxing for a minute I changed my clothes and went straight in the kitchen where Mom was preparing for dinner as usual.

To my surprise, I found a few Ladoos there kept in a plate. Picking one Ladoo in my hand I asked Mom, “Who brought these Ladoos!”

“No one has brought these; the neighbor has distributed these to everyone.” – She was referring to our neighboring aunty whose son is of my age. There was anger in Mom’s voice.

“What for?” I inquired without being perturbed by her anger.

“Sudhir’s wife has given birth to a baby boy.” She yelled. And I got the reason for her being so angry without any apparent cause. The reason was- 'she lagging far behind the other ladies of her age in the neighborhood.' and the anger was justified to a great extent for a housewife like her with not much aspirations beyond her family. I decided to slip out of kitchen with a Ladoo without saying a word so as not to agitate her further.
